Jar with geometric designs

Not on view

This jar, the oldest vessel in the installation, demonstrates that the technologies used to create thin-walled pottery existed more than seven millennia ago. Though little is known about this object, four small holes in the rim indicate that a thin sling may have been used to carry it or that a lid may have been hinged or tied down. Note: D4.
